Bryson City Bites

Lucky for you there are actually plenty of restaurants to choose from in Bryson City! Everything from your typical Italian affair to a all organic locally sourced health food nuts dream ( an yes I ate there, I had too). If you want a little more of a fine dining or sit down romantic meal, you are better off making the drive to Bryson City if you are staying in Cherokee. Since I only spent a day in Bryson City I just had one meal there. But I had to try that organic place, Cork and Bean Bistro, sooo I ordered to go, and chowed down on the deliciously organic noms at the movie theater a few hours late.

On to what I did eat in here... Trout. Now it may sound simple but this was actually considered the local delicacy, not hard to believe after seeing all the rivers that run down from the mountains. I went to a little locally owned restaurant called Jimmy Macs. Jimmy himself was cooking in the kitchen. At first I was a little apprehensive because many of the things on the menu were fried and facade of the restaurant looked sort of dated. I let the boyfriend pick our place for lunch since he trucked along for a 5 mile hike, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had the option of grilled trout. So for all you healthy folks like me.. this is what you want, a nice big portion of grilled trout. If you feel like treating yourself, they've got some sweet potato fries as a side. I stuck to just a generous portion of trout.

They also had a bison burger which I was really tempted to get, but I didn't think I would be able to finish a whole trout and a bison burger! I was wrong after that hike I could have definitely added a little bison sans burger to my lunch, so if you go to Jimmy Macs and order the bison, let me know how it is!

Me and the boy walked around the city for a while after our meal, he knows my slightly specific dietary needs and suggested I order take out from the organic place. Plus he knew how much I wanted to go there and try all the things hah. The interior felt like a modernized log cabin, it really is adorable. I looked over the menu and decided to order a bun-less grass-fed burger with onions, tomato, you know all the goodies and a side of Brussel sprouts that had nitrate- free bacon bits and aoli sauce. Also EVERYTHING was organic. I, like most other healthy foodies, was in heaven.

As we waited I heard the waiters talking, and it also sounded like they have a rooftop fire pit, or a fire on the upper level, either way it sounded adorable. I highly recommend Cork and Bean Bistro if you are anywhere near Bryson City. When I finally ate my dinner, it was abosolutly bomb ( like really good), I'm sure if my burger was still warm it would have been even better

So thats it for my food experiences in Bryson City! If you follow my food standards or something similar, both these meals were #foodstandardsapproved. To find out what that means click here!
