Fitness in Cherokee North Carolina

As I've said in my previous post about Cherokee, it is a quaint little town, kinda sorta meaning antique type of town. There are no fashionable pilates studios, no organic juiceries and honestly I didn't see a single gym while I was there and you know I was looking. Now you might be thinking " O NO,my hotel doesn't have a gym?" or "Wait, theres no hot yoga studio?", while these things maybe true, there are plenty of other ways to workout. But don't worry I've got you covered, you've got plenty of organic/ all-natural fitness equipment around you.

Missing your favorite fitness machine? Find it below for the Cherokee version A.K.A Organic version

Stretching in front of waterfall

Treadmill

So you've just woke up and normally you'd hit the treadmill, you know the one where you can watch the virtual forest change as you make your way through your run. But your in Cherokee so forget that indoor running machine, head to the actual trails for a run or speed walk. Theres a park located downtown to run a few laps in, plus the roads aren't very crowded, so you don't have to worry about car fumes or crazy drivers if you run along the sidewalk.

Stair master

Don't fret your not going to loose your perfectly crafted Kardashian-esq booty here. Just go to Mingo Falls and run up and down the stairs that take you to the top of the waterfall. I would even suggest doing a set of double stairs for some real booty gains. Plus once you've decided you've had enough of running up and down the stairs you get to enjoy the beautiful waterfall.

Yoga Class Junkie

Um hello, if your a real yoga junkie, just go find a rock or a piece of grass and get to it! Or head over to Jhuney Whank Falls in Bryson city. Its just a quick 20min drive. The hike and potential yoga spots are well worth the 20 minute drive.

Cycling/ Spin Class Fanatic

Maybe your brought your own bike! That would be awesome, but maybe you didn't. That problem can be fixed at Bryson City Rentals, they have got a vast selection of mountain bikes to choose from. There are plenty of biking trails to choose from whether your decide to ride in Cherokee or Bryson City. Come on spinners, give the real thing a try!

Rowing Machine

We all know that the rowing machine is a killer body workout, but did you know the motion is actually based off rowing something, like a canoe or maybe a kayak or a small boat. Located in Bryson City on beautiful Lake Fontana is a place to rent kayaks or paddle boards! After an hour or so of kayaking let me know how your shoulders/arms feel.

Now men, yes you boys who love all that heavy lifting ( I pick things up and put them down) kinda guys, unfortunately there is not much here for heavy lifters, I mean maybe you could find a tree or a log to bench press or a small car to deadlift. Our you could maybe give your body a break and enjoy some new forms of fitness. My boyfriend is one of those " I lift heavy things" kinda guys and he was perfectly happy doing the outdoorsy workouts in Cherokee! andddd don't worry, he did not lose any mass. Plus taking a few days off the heavy weights can be very beneficial for recovery. My advices is just to do one of your hardest workouts ever before your leave and plan to be really sore for two days, so you won't miss your big weights!
